Receiving Wisdom
The sages speak of 50 gates of wisdom. What is a, “gate of wisdom”? A gate lets things in, or keeps them out. A choice is a gate. 
 
You either open your heart to the inherent goodness and G-dliness inside, or you close the gate. You have to be ready to open the gates from the inside, and you have to know how to open the gates.
 
Shavuos takes place 50 days after the Jews left the physical prison of life in Egypt. They needed time to open their hearts to true freedom. Each day presented them with a challenge in a specific area of their inner lives. The seven weeks of choice making is what made them ready to say “We will do it and we will understand it”. They were ready to take Hashem’s wisdom and apply it to real life.
 

This Shavuos the heavens will open just as they always do. May this be the year when we accept the Torah again with enough joy and sincerity to open all the gates and bring about the final and true redemption
